More than 33,000 visitors saw the Antwerp Sports Palace and the Lotto Arena transformed into a true experience palace during the FTI Slot Festival on March 23 and 24. Young and old enjoyed an abundance of content, animation and fascinating talks about the power of Flemish Innovation and Technology.

Led by FTI festival director Dries Mahieu and curator Bruno Schaubroek, the final festival was the crowning achievement of 10 days of the FTI festival. This festival with the theme 'Welcome to the Doekomst' was supported by the Flemish Prime Minister and the entire Flemish government. The aim is to introduce the public to the latest developments in technology and innovation.

The FTI final festival is the result of a unique collaboration between CityCubes and Sylvester in which the qualities and competencies of both agencies only strengthen each other.

Together they faced the challenge of making innovation and technology accessible to a wide audience. CityCubes and Sylvester have successfully translated this, resulting in an event full of experiences that appeal to both young and old.

In 28 talks spread over 8 sessions, visitors learned about all kinds of surprising and creative sides of innovative technology, ranging from sports (nutrition) technology to space travel and climate, healthy living and the use of AI in art and music.

Children and students were made enthusiastic about STEM courses, the gaming industry, robotics and technology with various activations and talks (“with a real robot!”).

Tech companies, colleges and universities, as well as potential investors, also had the opportunity to become acquainted with innovations and creativity within the sector.

Dries Mahieu, festival director of FTI:

“With the mission of Flanders Technology & Innovation, we have tried to put technology & innovation in Flanders on the map, to inject a sense of pride and pride and to offer experiences tailored to each individual.

When we chose to program the FTI Slot Festival in the Sportpaleis and the Lotto Arena, the experts from CityCubes and Sylvester translated this challenge perfectly by transforming the location into a creative and immersive experience window for young and old for the first time.”

Dieter Veulemans, Partner & Creative Director at CityCubes, shared his pride about the impressive result: “Since the FTI closing weekend I have been walking around with the 'biggest smile ever'. So proud and grateful that we have achieved this fantastic result of the FTI Final Festival with all partners and stakeholders. We received the best compliment from one of the visitors, namely that after the visit to FTI, their daughter resolutely opted for a STEM study field instead of a classical education. That was exactly our intention and together we were 100% successful!”

Bart Fagard, Account Director at Sylvester, emphasized the importance of a broadly accessible concept: “We have thoroughly researched the needs of all target groups and developed a unique process for each of them, full of experience and relevant content. This way, all visitors found something that appealed to them.”

FTI stands for "Flanders Technology & Innovation" and is an initiative that stimulates and supports innovation and technology in Flanders to shape the future.
