The NBC Congress Center closes until September 1, 2023 after a major fire

It promised to be a beautiful fall for the NBC Convention Center. The Nieuwegein family business was more than ready for the start of the event season. Until disaster struck at the last minute. On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, the NBC was hit by a major fire. As a result, the location has largely been lost.

At around 2:30 PM, a fire broke out on the roof of the Event Hall. All guests and employees present were brought to safety within a very short time. After 12 hours of extinguishing the fire, the fire brigade gave the signal to master the fire at 02:40. Although the optical damage on the outside of the location appears to be minor, the damage on the inside is many times greater.

All spaces, technical equipment and materials have been lost. That is why the NBC Congress Center is forced to close its doors until September 1, 2023. All meetings planned at the NBC until September 1, 2023 cannot take place as a result.

For the conference and event location, the coming period will be dominated by reconstruction, but also helping clients find alternative locations. Fortunately, sitting still is not in the DNA of the family business and the work is already in full swing. Despite this setback, the NBC team faces the future with confidence.

Het beloofde een prachtig najaar te worden voor het NBC Congrescentrum. Het Nieuwegeinse familiebedrijf was meer dan klaar voor de start van het evenementenseizoen. Tot op de valreep het noodlot toesloeg. Op woensdag 7 september 2022 is het NBC getroffen door een grote brand. Daardoor is de locatie grotendeels verloren.

Rond 14:30 uur is er brand uitgebroken op het dak van de Event Hall. Alle aanwezige gasten en medewerkers zijn binnen zeer korte tijd in veiligheid gebracht. Na 12 uur blussen gaf de brandweer om 02:40 uur het sein brand meester. Hoewel de optische schade aan de buitenzijde van de locatie mee lijkt te vallen, is de schade aan de binnenzijde vele malen groter.

Alle ruimtes, technische apparatuur en materialen zijn verloren gegaan. Daarom is het NBC Congrescentrum genoodzaakt om tot 1 september 2023 haar deuren te sluiten. Alle bijeenkomsten die bij het NBC gepland staan tot 1 september 2023 kunnen hierdoor geen doorgang vinden.

Voor de congres- en evenementenlocatie staat de komende periode in het teken van de wederopbouw, maar ook in het helpen van opdrachtgevers met het vinden van alternatieve locaties. Gelukkig zit stilzitten niet in het DNA van het familiebedrijf en zijn de werkzaamheden al in volle gang. Ondanks deze tegenslag gaat het team van het NBC met vertrouwen de toekomst tegemoet.
