Multidisciplinary exercise AED Studios Lint
On Tuesday evening, November 8, 2022, the Zone Rand fire brigade is organizing a large-scale exercise in collaboration with AED Studios, the Hekla police zone, the medical emergency services and the emergency planning service of the municipality of Lint. The various disciplines are given the opportunity to fine-tune their collaboration and to test the emergency intervention plan of AED Studios in practice.
There will be a lot to do at AED studios Tuesday evening. Due to the size of the complex and the diversity of activities in their field, the potential risks are high. AED Studios was therefore requesting this exercise. “We are pleased to make the facilities of AED Studios available to the fire brigade, police and emergency medical services for this large-scale exercise. It will enable us to test, evaluate and, if necessary, adjust our emergency response plan in practice. Communication is crucial when calamities occur, and we are convinced that this exercise is instructive for all actors involved” explains Glenn Roggeman, CEO of AED Studios.
The scenario: due to a fire at the cooling installation on the roof, smoke enters one of the studios through the ventilation. The building will be evacuated, but not without a fight. For example, there is another actor hidden in his box and on the way out someone trips over a barrel of hydrochloric acid (a product that is used in the swimming pool of the studio). During the crowds that will arise, a VIP visit comes with a limousine and a helicopter wants to land… With a script that could have come straight out of a disaster film, the exercise may seem excessive. However, it is pure reality because any situation that is simulated could actually happen. The fire brigade, police, medical discipline and communication service will have to work together to ensure that everything runs smoothly. That is also the purpose of the large-scale exercise.

Dinsdagavond 8 november 2022 organiseert Brandweer Zone Rand een grootschalige oefening in samenwerking met AED Studios, de politiezone Hekla, de medische hulpdiensten en de dienst noodplanning van de gemeente Lint. De verschillende disciplines krijgen de kans om hun samenwerking op punt te zetten en het noodinterventieplan van AED Studios aan de praktijk te toetsen.
Er zal heel wat te doen zijn bij AED studios dinsdagavond. Door de grootte van het complex en de diversiteit aan activiteiten op hun terrein zijn de mogelijke risico’s groot. AED Studios was dan ook vragende partij voor deze oefening. “We stellen graag de faciliteiten van AED Studios ter beschikking van de brandweer, politie en medische hulpdiensten voor deze grootschalige oefening. Het zal ons in staat stellen om ons noodinterventieplan in de praktijk te testen, te evalueren en, indien nodig, bij te sturen. Communicatie is cruciaal wanneer er zich calamiteiten voordoen, en we zijn ervan overtuigd dat deze oefening leerrijk is voor alle betrokken actoren” verklaart Glenn Roggeman, CEO van AED Studios.
Het scenario: door een brand aan de koelinstallatie op het dak komt via de ventilatie rook binnen in één van de studio’s. Het gebouw zal geëvacueerd worden, maar dat gebeurt niet zonder slag of stoot. Zo zit er nog een acteur verscholen in zijn loge en struikelt er onderweg naar buiten iemand over een vat zoutzuur (een product dat gebruikt wordt in het zwembad van de studio). Tijdens de drukte die zal ontstaan komt er VIP bezoek aan met een limousine en wil er een helikopter landen… Met een draaiboek dat zo uit een rampenfilm zou kunnen komen, lijkt de oefening misschien overdreven. Het is echter pure realiteit want iedere situatie die wordt nagebootst, zou echt kunnen gebeuren. Zowel de brandweer, politie, medische discipline en communicatiedienst zullen moeten samenwerken om alles in goede banen te leiden. Dat is ook meteen het opzet van de grootschalige oefening.
