Because all bridal couples are different, we use their wishes and request numbers to appear on and with new titles during the ceremony. Once a year we try to put some of them online; you can find it on our YouTube channel HetStrijkkwartet.
Here is an overview of the latest titles that we purchased at the request of bridal couples and birthday parties for whom we played. For example, because it was 'their' song, or because they have such nice memories of it. Or because for them it is about their child.
How do request numbers work?
These are songs or pieces that are chosen for during the ceremony. Which will really be audible at a special moment.
After I hear the titles, I will surf for the hopefully different versions that are for sale. I then email the bridal couple what suitable sheet music I can find online and they give the green light for the purchase. For example, I send a payment request for this.
We prefer to limit the number of request numbers or new pieces to 2 per ceremony and we prefer to purchase them at least three months in advance.
Not all music is playable; If it is too complicated, we are happy to come up with an alternative. A work as grand as a Wagner opera or ballet by Prokofiev cannot be played with a string quartet. And not all styles lend themselves to string quartet playing; think of rap music…
Do you also have request numbers?
We prefer to hear them sooner rather than later so that we can realize them.
