AFK subsidy for events in Amsterdam: 6 tips for night-time makers
Good news for Amsterdam. 🪩🪩
Last Friday the time had come, the Amsterdam Night will have its own subsidy scheme.
We all think subsidies for important art and culture are normal. For the day culture that is, because night was never part of that. But that is now finally changing.
Subsidies are available from the Municipality of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK) for makers at night. The Amsterdam Night is internationally innovative and with this subsidy it will hopefully remain that way.
Amsterdam councilor for Art and Culture Touria Meliani put it nicely:
“As councilor for Art and Culture, I am proud of Amsterdam's night culture. It has a rich past, from an illustrious underground scene to world-renowned clubs, parties and festivals. That world has had an enormous influence on the city, its music and the visual arts. The nightlife is where you discover yourself.”

Afgelopen vrijdag was het zover, de Amsterdamse nacht krijgt een eigen subsidieregeling.
Subsidie voor belangrijke kunst en cultuur vinden we normaal met zijn allen. Voor de dagcultuur welteverstaan, want daar hoorde de nacht nooit bij. Maar daar komt nu dus eindelijk verandering in.
Vanuit de Gemeente Amsterdam en het Amsterdamse Fonds voor de Kunsten (AFK) komen er subsidies vrij voor makers in de nacht. De Amsterdamse nacht is internationaal vernieuwend en met deze subsidie blijft dat hopelijk ook zo.
Amsterdamse wethouder Kunst en Cultuur Touria Meliani, zei het mooi:
“Als wethouder Kunst en Cultuur ben ik trots op de nachtcultuur van Amsterdam. Die kent een rijk verleden, van een roemruchte underground scene tot en met clubs, feesten en festivals van wereldfaam. Die wereld is van enorme invloed geweest op de stad, de muziek en de beeldende kunst. Het nachtleven is waar je jezelf ontdekt.”
