BAZOOKA 3.0 "- 'The Event Sector Has Been Outlawed'

The events sector had been asking for an extension of the bank deal for much longer. Loans can now be extended to 5 years with a guarantee from the government.


A clear, good and necessary step for our hard hit sector.


For our sector, however, the end of the moratorium on capital repayment is an outlaw. The moratorium will be extended by 3 months until the end of March 2021, but there is a limit of 9 months. Because our sector has been unable to achieve a single Euro in turnover from mid-March, many companies are already at the 9-month limit by the end of December.


This limit is imposed by the EBA and must be observed by the Belgian government, but it declares our event entrepreneurs outlaws. The banks hold the key.


If no acceptable guarantees are mentioned, the domino effect will be enormous. Companies will drag each other into bankruptcy.


A moratorium tailored to the entrepreneur, who has often been a customer of the bank for years, is permitted and is absolutely necessary. Today, business leaders still have to sit down with their banker to thoroughly work out their file.


Schaubroeck: Febelfin is committed to looking at the healthy companies of February 2020 and not at the current difficult situation that event companies find themselves in. We call on the bankers to make this happen in the discussions they will have with the individual event entrepreneur.


Event Confederation wants to expressly point out to the banks their social responsibility. The banks want it on an individual basis, it is now up to the banks to show that they are worthy of that trust. Events are often used by the banking sector to support their image or customer relationships. Now we are counting on them to save this pre-covid very healthy sector.

We call on the Belgian government and in particular Prime Minister De Croo & Minister Vincent Van Peteghem to bring our sector and the banks together for a further structural
