CES 2025, the world's largest consumer electronics trade show, is set to open its doors in Las Vegas; this year's event will feature heightened security measures following the Tesla Cybertruck explosion on New Year's Day.
CES is known for showcasing cutting-edge technology and attracting more than 138,000 attendees annually.
Strengthened security measures
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which organises CES, has announced enhanced security protocols to ensure the safety of attendees and exhibitors. The announcement comes after an explosion involving a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, resulting in injuries to bystanders.
John T. Kelley, Vice President and Show Director of CTA, emphasised the organisation's commitment to safety: "Ensuring a secure and seamless experience for all is our top priority. We are working closely with trusted partners, including all levels of government, to deliver robust security, advanced infrastructure, and essential services so attendees can focus on driving growth and forging impactful connections."
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed to Mashable that they 'always' plan for additional officers at large-scale events like CES but declined to comment on any specific additional measures following the Tesla explosion.
CES has published some of its security measures for the event on its website.
