A video clip taken at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro showed how the stairs from a grandstand lurched dangerously when hundreds of spectators walked over it.
According to local authorities, the stairs have been inspected, reinforced and approved, but fans are worried about its sturdiness. The video of the ‘wobbly steps’ was recorded by a Brazilian photographer after the match between Argentina and Bosnia this weekend. Paula Kossatz was at the stadium to photograph and video the protests. But then she saw thousands of fans leaving the stadium, and the stairs began to wobble with hundreds of supporters on it. The other access stairs to the stadium for VIPs is made of concrete.
Whether the temporary structure is safe or not is difficult to judge based on these images alone, but it certainly doesn't look reassuring! When placing bleachers at your event, it would be a good idea to make use of a professional provider of temporary bleachers in order to avoid possible dramas.
